Get Creative with Family and Friends

I love to see family and friends connecting and having fun when they take part in art workshops and creative activities together!

I often work with families and small groups to develop bespoke art workshops or creative experiences tailored to their interests. Creative activities give you a powerful way to immerse yourself in a place, its culture, and its history, and so they can make wonderful elements in your itinerary when you are planning a trip to Kildare and Ireland’s Ancient East.

I particularly love working with groups from across different generations.

When grandparents get stuck into fun family activities with their children and grandchildren, they get to spark their curiosity as well as foster their connection with each other and with the beautiful places we explore together.

I find that, when families get together, they aren’t just learning from me – something magical happens when youth and experience meet in a fresh challenge!

I have had families from Waterford and Dublin meeting at my midlands studio for a convenient as well as carefree afternoon making dyes, while another group once travelled across the world to work on a family book project!

Trying something new together

Families and friend groups are always welcome in my scheduled eco-printing, book-binding, and letterpress workshops, as well as in bespoke art workshops that fit into their time together.

I recently welcomed 3 generations to one of my eco-printing workshops, with everyone creating their own unique patterns and colours within a shared activity.

Book binding is an especially lovely family activity, when people join me to document their family history or an important event in a creative way. Grand-aunts with their nephews, mothers and daughters, and sisters and friends are just some of the groups I’ve worked with to make limited edition cards by letterpress. They often extend the connections they are forging in the Blueway Art Studio even further when they send their creations to loved ones in far-away places.

Creative Activities for Groups

Art workshops and creative activities offer you and your loved ones the opportunity to spend time with people you care about as you share in fun and challenging activities.

Trying something new together is a great way to put the spark into your group gathering and renew your connections with each other. And there are lots of different activities you can choose from.

  • Create artwork to celebrate a family occasion in the company of the people you love best.
  • Give your friends or group the chance to get ‘hands on’ with traditional skills as they learn Kildare’s fascinating stories.
  • Explore your Kildare family history and make a powerful connection with a place where your ancestors once lived. Creative experiences can give you a great way to explore your Irish family history!
Book Your Group Art Experience

Art workshops and creative activities give your family or group unique ways to engage with the heritage and culture of Kildare and the Barrow Blueway, whether you decide to find inspiration and learn traditional skills together in my Blueway Art Studio or in some of the wonderful, historic locations nearby in Ireland’s Ancient East.

Will you opt for a bespoke workshop here at the Blueway Art Studio and make something with a special meaning for your family or join me on an art adventure with friends in Kildare’s gorgeous landscape? Whatever you decide, you will be gaining new skills and creating wonderful memories with people you care about, as well as making beautiful momentoes to bring home.
