KIlkenny Culture Night

Community Arts & Tourism

As a professional artist and printmaker, I regularly collaborate with museums, community groups, festivals, and other organisations and clusters to explore ideas and stories that are important to them. The creative experiences we co-create bring heritage, culture, and the natural world to life for locals and visitors alike. Engagement with the arts helps to animate creative communities and tourism experiences. It generates great memories for locals and visitors. And it can fire up imaginations and energy too, creating inspiration for your community’s future!

Some community arts projects are long-term: As an artist in the community working over time, I research and animate stories and devise creative ways to share them with locals and visitors of all ages, either through permanent artworks and exhibitions or through fun and interactive experiences.

Shorter creative experiences in the community and at tourism events can last for just a few hours or days. The creative experiences I facilitate include foraging, eco-printing, book-binding, and even gravestone rubbing! Each of these indoor and outdoor ctivities can be tailored to local topics, helping you to encourage curiosity, learning, and connections within and beyond your community and your destination.

BW AS Textured Circle Black

Creative community arts projects can:

  • Animate heritage stories and contemporary experiences for locals and visitors
  • Harness the energy of local stories to capture the imagination of domestic and international visitors
  • Support sustainable tourism development, community-building, and social inclusion
  • Encourage participation in the arts and self-expression for individuals and groups
  • Explore connections between people and places, as well as past, present, and future
  • Sustain traditional skills and practices that are an important part of Ireland’s social fabric

Community arts projects and experiences harness the sensory and emotional power of the arts, cutting across differences in ages, backgrounds, and experiences to generate meaningful connections – they are always at least as inspiring as the artworks and artefacts people create! So why not work with me to uncover and share some of the stories that are at the heart of your community, creating space for knowledge, ideas and connections to flourish.

Harness the power of community arts experiences!
